Northwestern Classics to host pilot “Public Classics” workshop in partnership with the Society of Classical Studies
April 16, 2019
The Northwestern Classics department is partnering with the Society for Classical Studies to offer a pilot program designed to help a new generation of scholars reach out to the larger public on Oct. 18-19, 2019.
Political wars are currently being waged over the classical past. As alt-right movements turn to Greco-Roman antiquity to support hate speech, the urgency for professional classicists to bring their scholarship into the global arena has become more pressing than ever. But most academics are untrained in public writing.
Attend “Classics in the Public Sphere” public lecture with Dr. Sarah Bond and Dr. Donna Zuckerberg on on Friday, October 18th, 2019.
Apply to workshop a piece of public scholarship with Sarah Bond, Nyasha Junior, Scott Lepisto, Denise McCoskey, Nandini Pandey, Claire Voon, and Donna Zuckerberg on Saturday, October 19th, 2019.
