Germán Campos-Muñoz

Associate Professor of Instruction of Classics

PhD, Comparative Literature, Pennsylvania State University

Germán Campos Muñoz completed his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the Pennsylvania State University. His research interrogates the history of critical engagements with the Greco-Roman classics in the literatures and cultures of Latin America. His first book, The Classics in South America: Five Case Studies (Bloomsbury, 2021), proposes a transhistorical approach to these receptions by examining five case studies selected from the early and late colonial period, the emancipatory era, and the 20th and 21st centuries. He has also published articles on this topic in venues including Dieciocho, Hispanic Review, and Latin American Research Review. Other research and teaching interests include the disciplinary histories of Comparative and World Literature, and literary theory and criticism.
